When we heard designer Steph was off to Berlin for the weekend we asked her to take lots of snaps and tell us all about it!
I was lucky enough to be able to visit Berlin for my first time in Germany. I’m a big fan of city breaks, and love learning more about the history, culture, fashion and the cuisine of different places.
I did all the main tourist spots – Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, The Jüdisches Museum, and the East Side Gallery. It was an emotional insight in to the turbulent past of the city, hitting home as I visited Checkpoint Charlie on Remembrance Sunday. Lest we forget.
Now, it bursts with a creative-edge which is notable in the restaurants, shops, people and architecture – the Sony Centre was astonishing. All you have to do is look around to see a vibrant selection of fashionistas and overall-coolness. Berlin had such a great vibe I never wanted to leave. I paid around €7 per day to get around the city, which included the metro, overground trains, trams and buses and it lasted 24 hours, a bargain I’m not really used to (sorry London). I did a lot of walking too (glad I wore my leopard-print Morena’s!) which is a great way to find the hidden gems.
I will be going back – and not just for the pastries and Currywurst.
